How can I avoid repeating the same tasks?

Often we find ourselves repeating the same patterns on and on again. And not because we omitted something or we didn't do it properly. There is a thought, initially, that causes us to think that the way we performed a process - whether that be open the fridge; walk out the door; get in the car; place something on our desk and infinite other tasks - was not the 'proper' or the 'right' one, and hence, we need to repeat that task but in a different pattern. If we don't repeat the same task we just carried out, in a different pattern, something bad will happen to us or to the ones we love.

That is called anxiety reaction: it feels that, by repeating the same pattern, we will stop bad from happening. But we don't realise that in reality we put ourselves into a vicious cycle. You must have noticed by now these thoughts never stop; and they torture you from the moment you wake up, in the morning, to the moment you go to bed, in the evening.

And now, here is a good way to start realising this reaction more: Each time, a thought gets in your head which tells you: 'if you don't repeat what you have just finished, something bad will happen', write it down on a piece of paper. Each time; don't cheat. See what happens.

I will be happy to know the course of that practice of yours. Feel free to email me at: excitinglifeforyou@gmail.com or drop me a line in the Contact Form below. You can also visit my website: www.excitinglifeforyou.com; I will be thrilled to welcome you there, too!
